GREYHOUNDZ

                                                   GREYHOUNDZ

Greyhound is one of the most successful metal band in the Philippines. They have been a band for 17 years. I started to listen to them when i was a sixth grader. They're music is noisy yet it attracts me because of its guitar and drums technicality and the vocalist has the ability to scream. This band won numerous awards in their early years and still doing their stuffs up to now. They have a meaningful song, although their musicality does not attract the majority of the Filipino because it is kinda noisy. What also attracts me is their style of lyrics writing, it is really admirable because to its meaning and poetic structures. There songs deals with different aspect of life.

Their Lead Guitarist "Audie Avenido" strikes a post as I saw him and asked to take him a picture during the SINULOG BLAST OFF 2013. I was happy at the moment I took it because he was so nice and had a short conversation with me. Sad to say I forgot to have a picture with him. Better Luck Next Time.

URBANDUB

                                 URBANDUB

One of the Cebu's pride, URBANDUB! this band really rocks! when I first heard their I song "Soul searching" I thought the band was a foreign band because of its quality and instruments and the vocal really sound like a foreign band playing. The band that has been  my idol for years. Every time when they have a gig in Cebu (regardless of the specific place in Cebu) I really feel excited to watch them and save money for the ticket (if their show isn't for free) One of the memorable moments i had in their show was when I had a chance to talk and took picture with them at Sinulog Blast off 2013.

They have been a band for many years and still they got the edge to rock on and catch the attention of their fans and listener. In one of their gigs that I attended, Gaby Alipe (The one wearing a long sleeve polo and their guitarist/vocalist) said thanks to all the people who supported and attended their band, he said that they would not be what they are now without the support and love by their fans. They never forget their hometown "Cebu" and that is something good about them. Despite of their success they still remain humble and thankful to God for giving them such opportunity in the mainstream.

I really feel excited every time they will have another album to release and I listen to every single and they never fail to capture my taste in music.

LALAY LIM  won Bassist of the year (2010)  NU 107 Rock Awards

One of their shows I attend at Ayala terraces Cebu City.

SKA MUSIC

In the Philippines, ska music is not yet common or it has not hit the mainstream yet, that is only based on my opinion and I don't have any statistical proof to it. In this blog I wanna discuss a little bit about ska music. Ska music originated in Jamaica in the late 1950s and a precursor to rocksteady and reggae, see more info. in this link (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ska).

In relation to my life, I have been listening and enjoying to ska music since I was in high school. Before I don't really like it because I was not used to listen to music with wind instrument, I was more on "pop punk rock" style. But when I started to listen to the band Reel Big Fish (picture shown above) I became curious and started to like it because of its unique sound. I then let my classmates and friends listen to it and share to them this type of music.
